NEW THE ONE HUNDRED, 100 NEW SONG’S, 5 CD’s

We are pleased to announce The One Hundred, five CD’s, which include 100 new songs.

 On this project we enlisted the talents of numerous local musicians over the years, including our nineteen-year-old son, Damian Demetrius Diaz, who plays lead guitar in the band and also drums in the studio, and the most recent collaboration on the song, Spinning Into You with Joey Burns from Calexico, which was recorded with Craig Schumacher and Chris Schultz at WaveLab Studio in Tucson. We have had the privilege of knowing and working with some of the most creative musicians in Tucson and wanted to share those magical moments on The One Hundred. Some of the songs date back to the 90’s and are our original recordings from our Roland VS880 8-track tape machine and one was written and recorded by Damian on his Droid cell phone, we didn’t discriminate.

 On the tracks written most recently, namely on Slow In Obeying An Order and some on Shadow Pins, Paula has dubbed them, quantum love songs, with a metaphysical and lyrical connection to Daniel’s art, such as on Virtuous, Of This World, and Time Machine. We are so connected creatively that we influence each other in everything that we do.

 On The One Hundred, there is an interesting connection between the studio recordings that the duo has done over the years and their live performances, which take on a life of their own. We are always searching for the perfect studio scenario that will capture the power of our live performances. Some of the songs on The One Hundred are those experiments, and we are ready to release them. What we have learned at our most recent session with Craig Schumacher and Joey Burns at WaveLab is that letting go of control of the music is liberating and exciting. Our next project is to make a live album, possibly on tape, and possibly release it on vinyl.
